'In Light of Shadows' BFA Thesis
Design Research:
Korean architectural patterns and lettices and the way they naturally project shadows and function within the traditional architecture. My inspiration derived from my childhood memories of spending time at my grandma's house in the country side of Korea.
Process/Moodboards:
Inspired by the traditional architecture at my grandma's house in Donghae, Korea. Since I don't get to visit her or her place often, I wanted to use these personal photographs I took of her place and traditional Korean architecture to reproduce a piece of my childhood memory to this project.
Test models before final production:
studying the way the structure project shadows onto the Hanji, the rice paper sides, from various angles and figuring out the limitations and adaptations to the provided exhibitions space.
